Inspiring you to take charge of your lifestyle

At Thermalogica Health Screening we are women who believe in taking control of our health. We no longer let things happen then deal with the problem. No! We are proactive and like to know well in advance if our health is veering off track.

We know, in order to have a full understanding of how we can keep ourselves healthy, we need to take a look at what is going on inside our bodies and the best way to do that is with a thermal imaging scan.

So to give you a better understanding of what thermal imaging is all about please read through our Frequently Asked Questions. If you have a specific question we did not cover please feel free to call us on 01392 330 656 or email us at clinic@thermalogicahealthscreening.co.uk and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

What is Thermal Imaging?

Thermal Imaging is a harmless, painless, contactless screening tool suitable for men and women and can be repeated as often as necessary.

Our team use a Thermal Imaging camera and digital infra-red heat map technology to see patterns of heat and cooler spots in the body, which could highlight areas of inflammation or dysfunction.

The technology used in Thermal Imaging takes a picture and creates a map, or thermal fingerprint of the body, which can give you a visual guide to how your body is functioning.

How Does Thermal Imaging work?

A camera is used to convert infrared imaging from the skin surface into electrical impulses that are shown in  colour on a monitor. This visual image maps the body temperature and is referred to as a Thermogram.

The spectrum of colours indicate an increase or decrease in the amount of heat being emitted from the surface of the body. Since the body is thermally symmetrical, any subtle abnormal differences in temperature can be easily identified.

What can Thermal Imaging identify?

Thermal Imaging is highly sensitive to variations in the vascular, muscular, neural and skeletal systems and can contribute valuable information to help toward a diagnosis made by a doctor.

Because Thermal Imaging shows active inflammation and increased blood supply, very often it can see problems earlier than other tools such as x-rays, ultrasound and mammograms.

Why should we monitor our body’s heat and temperature changes?

It is well documented in medicine that heat and temperature changes are one of the first indicators of disease and dysfunction in the body. For example, chronic diseases, even in their earliest stages, cause the formation of new blood vessels and an increase in surface temperature in the affected regions.

Changes in physiology can occur seven to 10 years before anatomic ones.

How does Thermal Imaging pick up on heat changes?

Thermal imaging picks up on the physiological heat changes occurring in the body and monitors them over time, allowing a detailed picture of your health and any changes, to be built up.

This knowledge puts you in control and allows you the opportunity of taking preventative action.

What is inflammation?

Inflammation can be a pre-cursor to many chronic health issues and can pinpoint pain or an injury site, often before the symptoms appear. This could allow for rapid clinical diagnosis and treatment.

How often is Thermal Imaging used?

This clinical test is widely used in the USA and Europe and is supported by over 30 years of research and more than 8000 published medical studies. Click here to view some of the studies.

Breast Health Screening

One of the areas Thermal Imaging proves most popular is for breast health checks.

Breast thermography screening is an adjunctive test to mammography, ultrasound and MRI.  It is a specialised physiological test designed to detect angiogenesis, hyperthermia from nitric oxide, oestrogen dominance, lymph abnormality and inflammatory processes including inflammatory breast disease, all of which cannot be detected with structural tests.

Breast thermography is a way of monitoring breast health over time.

IMPORTANT: Thermal Imaging does not detect tumours. Regular Thermal imaging will detect inflammation which can be a pre-cursor to many health issues.

Mammograms and ultrasounds rely on mass and structure so generally will not pick up a tumour until it is a certain size, by which time it has most likely been growing for several years.

Why Do I Need a Thermalogica Health Screening Scan?

Thermal imaging can also pinpoint and highlight sites of unexplained pain and trauma in the body. This could help towards a more rapid and accurate diagnosis in pain and trauma sites that other screening devices may miss.

How safe and effective Is Thermal Imaging?

Thermal Imaging is 100% safe. It uses no ionising radiation and moreover, there are no side effects. It is suitable for all ages.

Thermal imaging is an adjunctive test, which contributes to the process of differential diagnosis, and is not independently diagnostic of pathology.
